Based in St Ives, Cambridgeshire, Hunts AC embraces the England Athletics’ equal opportunities/sports equity policy and welcomes all members of the community. We cater for all levels, whether you’re a budding athlete or an experienced Junior or Senior competitor, an all-rounder or a specialist, a recreational five-miler or a veteran of a dozen marathons. FROSTBITE FRIENDLY LEAGUE 2009/10
All club runners welcome and encouraged to take part in this years series, regardless of ability!
Scoring : Seniors 10 runners with minimum of 3 ladies
Juniors 5 runners with minimum of 1 girl
All runners (both senior and junior) MUST wear club colours and will be disqualified if they do not.

The Masseur is Mr Phil Young L.S.S.M. who Qualified from the London School
of Sport Massage and is also a UK Grade 3 Coach.
Mr Young is offering Free Trial Massages to Club Members after Training on
Tuesdays & Thursday and all athletes are encouraged to try out this valuable
service.

As the season draws to a close, theres no let up by 17-year-old Jonathan Edwards in his pursuit of club records and athletics excellence. Jonathan won the Under 20 Mens discus and hammer throw events, the latter by a huge 13 metres. In the one event he didnt win, the shot putt, Jonathan rose to the occasion against the 3rd and 13th best Junior shot putters in the land by adding an impressive 31 cms to his own club record (his 19th this season) with a distance of 14.46m. Out on the track, and after running in a 3000m race the day before, 14-year-old James Downing held on for the win in the Under 15 Boys 1500m.

29/08/2010 Club Champs (200, Shot, High Jump, 3000) details
At the fourth and final Huntingdonshire Athletics Clubs track & field championships, the Under 11 competitors grabbed the spotlight with three young athletes setting four club records. In the Under 11 Boys section, George Youngs came away with records in the 200m and high jump. George reduced the 200m club best by a hefty five seconds, while adding 10 cms to the previous high jump best. George momentarily held the shot putt record in the first round before William Alden broke the record in the second round, improving still further in the third and final round. In the Under 11 Girls high jump, newcomer Harriet Bruce added a whopping 20 cms to the previous record. The class performance of the meet came from Jonathan Edwards who hurled the Under 20 Mens shot putt out past the 14-metre barrier. Jonathan, who ranks in the top 20 in the country, was a mere 10 cms down on his best. At the end of the four-meet club championship series, which saw 58 club members vie for medals and plaques, the following athletes emerged as age group champions: Under 11 Boys Seb Darnell, Under 13 Boys Christopher Duma, Under 15 Boys - James Downing, Under 17 Men Jordan Gillbanks, Under 20 Men Jonathan Edwards, Senior Men - Charles Pook, Veteran Men Steve Wellman; Under 11 Girls Amelia Cantwell, Under 13 Girls Amelia Darnell, Under 15 Girls Rebecca Pedley, Under 17 Women Laurel Phelan, Under 20 Women - Sammie Skinner, Veteran Women Sandra Pedley.

28/08/2010 SEAA Inter Counties U15/U20 Championships details
Two Hunts AC athletes were part of the team representing the county.
Jonathan Edwards picked up a hammer throw bronze medal and his 18th club record of the season in the Under 20 Mens Inter-Counties Championships at Copthall. His distance of 55.04m added 64 cms to his previous best and consolidates his 15th position in the U20M national rankings and 1st place at the top of the Eastern Counties rankings. Jonathan added a 4th place in the shot putt and 6th in the discus to his achievements on the day.
After a two-week holiday, Katie Scholey (U15G) was also back in action. Katie booked her place in the 800m finals with a gutsy 4th place performance in her heat and finished the main event in a very creditable 6th position.

In the third Huntingdonshire AC club championship meet of the year, 10-year-old George Youngs excelled by establishing a new Under 11 Boys club record in the javelin with a distance of 17.00 metres. George was a mere tenth of a second away from the 100m record.

15/08/2010 Eastern Young Athletes League - Peterborough details
Huntingdonshire AC sprinters sparkled in the final Eastern Young Athletes League meet of the season at Peterborough. Fifteen-year-old Meredith Ash stormed to easy victories in the Under 17 Womens 100m and 200m, winning each race by half a second or more. Meredith still has one more year to go in this age category. Her Under 17 Mens counterpart, Ryan Palmer, similarly picked up wins in his two sprint races. His Peterborough AC opponent, who shares a similar personal best in the 200m, lost out to Ryan by 0.5 secs which suggests theres still more to come from the young Hunts AC sprinter. In the U17M 800m A race, George Allen ran away from the field to win by almost five seconds.
