22/01/2012  South of England Indoor Under 20 Champs - Lee Valley
Seventeen-year-old Ryan Palmer reinforced his claim as the club’s fastest-ever sprinter in its 45-year history by setting four club records over the 60m sprint in just one day, culminating with a 7.00-sec clocking and a 5th-place finish in the South of England Under 20 Championships. Starting off with a win in his heat, Ryan’s time of 7.01 secs removed a significant 0.15 secs from his personal best set last season. This performance beat his own Hunts AC senior and junior records. Ryan finished second in his semi-final in his fastest time of the day (7.00) which again beat his two records set earlier in the day. His time of 7.03 in the final was just 0.04 secs from the bronze medal and currently ranks him 12th in the country. In the heats, 18-year-old Hugh Thorogood reduced his best from 7.57 down to 7.53 secs when placing sixth in his heat. In the field, Jonathan Edwards became the first-ever Hunts ACer to putt in the Senior shot indoors. His distance of 12.34m, although well down on his outdoor best, constitutes a new club record, the sixth Hunts AC record of the new year.   Further Info

15/01/2012  Frostbite League Race 4
After previously waiting almost 3 years to record a further 2nd place finish in a Frostbite race, managing this in the December race at Hinchingbrooke, the Seniors repeated the feat in the very next race, today at March. Provisional results show that this success elevates the Seniors to 2nd place in the league overall (highest point the writer can recall us achieving).

However, one disappointing aspect of today was that we had our lowest turnout of runners this season - just 22. We had 26 at the previous race at Hinchingbrooke, which we organised and marshaled! It was a great day for running today so it was a shame to see a fall off in club members representing their club. The highest [possible turnout in the races is our first priority so, hopefully, we will see a significant improvement at the next race, in just 3 weeks time, at Bourne Woods.

Very well done to our young junior team who fielded 18 runners and finished a superb 4th on the day, for a current 5th place in the league. A special mention to Francesca Worrall, Amelia Darnell and Charlotte Smith (as well as to Eleanor Smith in the Senior race), who all competed y'day in the County Schools XC but lined up today again to support the team, and, thus, earned this year's "Tough Girl Award".

More details to follow when available.
