The training includes speed sessions, fartlek, 500m & 1k efforts, and lots more!. The road runners train as a group with the more experienced runners offering encouragement to all.

We compete in the Cambridgeshire Road Race League in the summer and the Fostbite Friendly league in the winter.

We are not just a running club, we also hold social events after races. Please read our newsletters for further info.

  • 18/07/2010  St. Ives Dairy Crest 10k  details
Despite windy conditions on an otherwise warm day, the Dairy Crest St Ives 10k road race a rousing success. This well-organised annual event, which embraces the RAF Wyton airfield, saw 424 runners cross the finishing line with a further 109 starters in the fun run. Heading the 10k field was Craig Holgate of Ely Runners in a time of 33:34, while Elaine OSullivan took top honours in the womens race in 42:03. In the team competition, Cambridge & Coleridge ran out winners in the team race with March AC picking up first place in the womens team category. With the majority of Hunts AC members focused on ensuring the organisation of the race was at its very best, there was still opportunity for club success out on the race course. In the 3k fun run, 14-year-old James Downing ran out a very easy winner, finishing 65 seconds ahead of the next runner, while Eleanor Smith finished in second place in the girls section. In the 10k race, the Hunts AC womens team finished as runners-up while, on the individual front, 16-year-old Christina Marshall finished a whopping eight minutes ahead of her nearest rival in the W15 19 category in club U17W record time. Neil Speaight, who was on a few day's home leave from Switzerland, led the Hunts AC mens team home in 12th place, while Julia McIntosh headed the womens team with an excellent 7th place finish overall and 3rd in W45-49 category. Special thanks must go to Fenstanton-based company Dairy Crest whose sponsorship of this race contributes to making this event a very special occasion for all who attend.

"Today was a fantastic day which every participant clearly enjoyed, whether they were running, supporting or helping.

This is the Club's biggest day of the year so many thanks to all Club members and friends and our sponsors, notably Dairy Crest, who helped to make it such a great success.

In particular, we must all give thanks to Gill Luff for stepping forward to act as Race Director and for doing such a great job."

    Message from Gill Luff
Congratulations and a very big thank you to everyone who helped pull together yet another successful 10K race on 18 July. The feedback we have had so far has been very positive, with especial praise for the friendly and supportive marshalls. Everyone though, was absolutely brilliant - THANK YOU!

I do want to know about the things that didn't go quite so well though. So that we can keep improving this race and make it one of the 'must do' races in people's calendars it is important we focus on the detail. Could you please email me with anything that made you think 'Oh, we should have thought of that' or 'Why wasn't that done?' or 'This could have been done better'. However teeny, big, critical please do let me know by dropping me an email g.luff@tesco.net.

Thank you everyone! (a sleeping-better Gill)
