Training takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7pm, and on Sundays by arrangement meeting at the St.Ivo Outdoor Complex. The latest training schedule is on the Road Runners notice board. The training includes speed sessions, fartlek, 500m & 1k efforts, and lots more!. The road runners train as a group with the more experienced runners offering encouragement to all.

We compete in the Cambridgeshire Road Race League in the summer and the Fostbite Friendly league in the winter.

We are not just a running club, we also hold social events after races. Please read our newsletters for further info.

    05/10/2008  Loch Ness Marathon  details
Gair Matthews represented Hunts AC in this 'monster' of a marathon, finishing in 3:16:25, bettering his PB by 10 minutes.
This was enough to claim 101st place out of 1402 finishers.
Although expressing his pleasure in his performance he also stated that he 'had foolishly hoped to be around 5 mins quicker but like a twit, hadn't realised there'd be so many hills!!!'.
Well done Gair - you can use those 5 minutes to set another PB next marathon.

  • 05/10/2008  Frostbite Friendly League - Race 1 - St Neots  details
A new generation of young Huntingdonshire AC runners began their running careers in the first race of the Frostbite Friendly League. With a torrential downpour making for extremely muddy and slippery conditions, 15 junior Hunts AC runners braved the start of the cross country race at Priory Park, St Neots, with 10 of them competing for the club for the very first time. In a race which included runners up to the age of 15, the star Hunts AC athlete of the day was 12-year-old James Downing who finished strongly to snatch 2nd place right at the line. Downing has burst on to the scene this past summer by running the mile in 5:18.2, which not only set a new Under 13 Boys club record but also ranks him as the fastest miler in the country this year in his age group. With a further three year’s eligibility in this junior league, Downing will eventually dominate these races. With five to score which must include one girl, the Hunts AC Juniors found themselves in the unusual position of having four girls, led by 15-year-old Helen West, and one boy in the scoring team. Girl power!

As usual the running is the easy bit. Therefore, a big, Big, BIG! "Thank you" to Monique and Scot who were our night shift support team (stages 10-14) and without who we wouldn't have made it to the start line in the first place, and to Betty, our time keeper throughout the entire event. Another big "Thank You" to Geff Brewster who's been our main escort cyclist this year (clocking about 80M during (quote) "a nice day out") and to Derek, Graeme (Pauline), Caroline (Richard), Lou (Steve), Keith & Shane who were in the right place at the right time to back us up when things got a little bit tight during this year's 94,554 seconds of non-stop action...
    Well done to everybody!
