14/03/2010 Cambridgeshire Throws Development Meet, Cambridge  details
In his opening competition of the season at the County Throws Development Meet in Cambridge, Jonathan Edwards continued where he left off last year by winning his hammer throw event and setting a new club record in the process. In his first year as an Under 20, Jonathan added a whopping eight metres to his personal best and over five metres to the club record of 44.20 metres set by Robert Ellingham in 1987. Jonathan’s early season distance of 49.37m places him at the top of the national rankings and comfortably exceeds the English Schools Championships qualifying distance. Not satisfied with just one victory, he claimed wins in both the shot putt with 12.29m and the discus with 38.25m. On the strength of this showing, Jonathan is set to enjoy a high-calibre athletics season. Also gaining a first place on the day, Martin Safford won the veterans javelin with 32.62m.

07/03/2010 Frostbite League Race 6  details
The Frostbite Friendly League season came to a conclusion today in Huntingdon with 129 Juniors and 406 Seniors completing the respective final races in excellect conditions. Our Juniors fielded a team of 15 and once again finished in second place and so sealing second place in the league overall. Despite having only 23 runners, its lowest of the season, the Senior team still managed to finish in fifth place on the day which meant a final league placing of fifth, being beaten to fourth only on running points after finiahing equal fourth on league points. A slightly disappointing end of season, therefore, for the Seniors but, of course, well done to all runners, both Junior and Senior, who did represent the Club today and, as ever, a big thank you to all our supporters. Full results will be available via the League website link below, when it is back up and running.
Finally, particular congratulations go to James Downing and to Katie Scholey, who received awards as our Junior Runners of the Series.
The Senior Runner(s?) will be announced at the Frostbite Presentation Evening on 27 March.

20/02/2010 Indoor Track Meets  details
With the road and cross country runners taking a break, attention turned to indoor athletics with Christian Roberts representing Cambridge University in the traditional Varsity Relays against Oxford University at Lea Valley in
London. Called in as a last-minute replacement, Roberts still ran a personal best of 7.40 secs to place 4th in the 60m sprint. He later led off
for Cambridge in the 4x200m with his team securing the victory. Roberts joins illustrious company in this event with the name of Harold Abrahams engraved on the trophy as a previous winner. Abrahams won gold for Britain in the 1924 Olympics and is immortalised in the film Chariots of Fire. Further north in Birmingham, Matt Leadbitter took part in the Midland
Counties open meet with impressive results. In the 200m, Leadbitter surprised with a fine 2nd place in 23.31 secs. This time beats his personal best of 23.50 set four years ago and places him in the top ten in the Eastern Counties. Later in the day, Leadbitter ran the whole way from the front to easily win his 800m race by over eight seconds in 2:04.18.

07/02/2010 Frostbite League Race 5  details
A revised course in Bourne Woods meant that the going was more muddy than in past races but the underfoot conditions did not stop our Junior and Senior teams from recording fine performances. 40 Club runners took part in the two races - 16 Juniors (4 boys/12 girls) in a field of 122 and 24 Seniors (17 boys and 7 girls) in a field of 413. Our Juniors once again finished second to strengthen their hold on second place in the league overall (out of 13 teams). Our Seniors bettered their performance in the previous race by finishing fourth. This means that the team is joint third in the league on league points but fourth overall (out of 17 teams) due to having having a higher race points total. So, it is all to play for in the final races in four weeks time, which will take place on our doorstep in Huntingdon - here's hoping for a fantastic turnout to end the season. Finally, thanks as ever to all our supporters.

06/02/2010 Birmingham Games  details
With the vast majority of Hunts AC athletes slogging it out through muddy fields, Matt Leadbitter was the club’s sole representative on the indoor circuit at the Birmingham Games. Matt did not let down as he sliced a quarter of a second from his personal best in the Senior Men’s 400m to finish 3rd in 50.70 secs behind Richard Buck who has competed at World Championship level. Matt’s time rates him as the second-fastest 400m runner in the Eastern Counties.
